These are called "piedras de compadres," or the companion rocks. Many people come here to make sacrifices to their gods.
"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." -2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Escipulas
We went on another trip today to visit another dark place in Guatemala. We drove 4 hours to Escipulas which is extremely close to the Honduras border. This place is where the Catholic people take a pilgrimage to during Holy Week. They are encouraged to go often to confess their sins to the priest and offer sacrifices to the Black Christ. The Black Christ is an idol in the huge church that the people worship. They speak to it and ask them to bless things, and when they leave they back down the ramp backwards.
This place was full of Catholic people who claim to be Christians, but in reality they serve major idols. These people put their faith in a statue and ask for forgiveness from a human that cannot offer it. They are clearly so lost, and it made me so thankful I can serve my God at any time and in any place without having to consult someone or go to a specific place. I just wish that those people could know the true love of Christ and know the feeling of true forgiveness.
